multicoloured strips, end to
end, into 1 long strip. Lay out
joined strip, wrong side up, and
use a bowl to trace a scalloped
design onto 1 long edge. Mark
bowl with tape so you can line
it up in same place each time
- this keeps scallop s sam e
size. Cut along traced line.
B e ca u se curtain fabric is
rubber-backed, it doesn't fray,
so there's no need to finish
scalloped edge.
STEP 17
Starting at 1 edge of
door opening, with wrong side
of scallops facing right side of
tent sides, pin and stitch
scalloped edge to upper edge
of tent, allowing a 1 cm seam.
STEP 18
For flow ers and
butterflies, p re ss glu e -sid e
of a piece of V lie so fix to
w rong side of various fabric
scraps. U sin g Tea For Two
Motifs (see page 193), trace
flower and butterfly sh ap e s
onto paper side of Vliesofix
and cut out.
STEP 19
Rem ove backing
paper from shapes. Iron them
around lower e d ges of tent
sides to represent a garden.
D on ’t forget to leave a 4cm
border on bottom e d ges for
hem. Edges of cut-outs will not
fray, but you can jazz them up
a little by outlining them with
glitter or metallic dimensional
fabric paint. You can also create
m arkings within butterflies.
G lue on large buttons or
pompoms for flower centres.
STEP 20
For tent top, with
right sides together, pin top of
tent to tent sides, matching
side seam s to corners. Stitch
as pinned. At each corner, stop
machine with needle in fabric,
clip into corner, then pivot
fabric around on needle and
continue sewing. Neaten raw
seam s with zigzag.
STEP 21
Press under 1 cm on
lower edge of tent sides, then
press under another 3cm and
stitch hem in place.
STEP 22
Turn tent right side
out, give it a go o d press,
then slip onto table and watch
the fun begin!
